The north end of Herradura Bay is anchored by Los Sueños, the first government-approved marina to operate in Costa Rica, with 200 wet slips, 166 dry slips, a fuel dock and full-time staff. The resort promotes its offshore marlin fishing as the best in the world and is home to the Los Sueños Signature Triple Crown, the billfish tournament series.

Herradura means horseshoe, and the beach is named for the shape of its bay — a curved, protected arc six kilometers north of Jacó. Behind the marina, the Los Sueños development covers 1,100 hectares including a 600-acre private nature reserve and an eighteen-hole golf course.

Catamaran day trips to Tortuga Island leave directly from Los Sueños and from Jacó Beach, crossing the Gulf of Nicoya in under an hour. It is the easiest big day trip from Herradura — no early drive required.
